CaribSea LifeRock - The Bedrock of Reef Tank Filtration & Saltwater Fish Habitats
In a reef aquarium, the rock inside the tank is a critical component and provides both the biological and physical foundation for your reef. Caribsea LifeRock is an eco-friendly dry rock that has been shaped and colored to reflect the natural appearance of mature live rock, right out of the ocean. You can avoid the sterile appearance you get from using run-of-the-mill mined dry rock and enjoy a beautiful looking, natural aquascape from the very first day you put water in the aquarium. As the tank matures, the purple and pink colored rocks naturally complement the corals to create that iconic reef scene.
How It's Made
LifeRock is not collected from wild reefs and actually starts out as aragonite rocks mined from inland quarries. The calcium carbonate-based rock is clean, free from harmful contaminants, and extremely porous providing the perfect habitat for beneficial bacteria. The rock is infused with bacteria to help hasten cycling times and then treated with multiple layers of aragonite-based colored coatings to create that beautiful, established reef aesthetic.
Types of LifeRock
Another unique benefit of using LifeRock is the wide variety of different shapes and preformed structures that will aid in building unique and functional aquascapes. Not only do you get that established reef appearance, but you can also achieve a professional-looking aquascape with minimal effort.
Original LifeRock - Classic organic rock shapes, roughly 8" - 14" in diameter. Easily stacked and adhered together using super glue gel and epoxy.
Branch LifeRock - Long, branch-like formations that resemble "branch rock" collected from wild reefs.
Shelf LifeRock - Flat rocks, perfect for stacking and creating overhangs.
Base LifeRock - Rock that is cut perfectly flat on one side for laying directly on the glass to create a stable foundation for your aquascape.
Table LifeRock - Pedestal-shaped rock that imitates a large "tabling Acropora" colony found on wild reefs. Great as a foundation or stand-alone structure.
Shapes LifeRock - Preformed structures that can be used amongst your aquascape to create interesting habitat for your fish. Arches, overhangs, caves, crevices, etc.
Arches LifeRock - Arch-shaped rock structures available in multiple sizes.
Reef Tree LifeRock - A kit that includes a base rock and a variety of different rocks that are stacked together using a single ceramic rod; no epoxy or glue is required. LifeRock extensions available separately to expand the Reef Tree
Reef Forest LifeRock - A kit that includes a base rock with a variety of different rocks that are stacked together using multiple ceramic rods; no epoxy or glue is required. LifeRock extensions available separately to expand the Reef Forest
Nano LifeRock - Smaller diameter rocks, perfect for small aquariums
Create-a-Scape LifeRock - Base rock and ceramic rods that can be used to create your very own unique aquascape without the use of epoxy or adhesives.
