Is the tubing that comes with this also ozone resistant?
Question by: Derrick Picker on Jul 25, 2023, 9:40 PM
This IS ozone resistant

Are the barb fittings ozone resistant?
Question by: Nick B on Mar 8, 2023, 5:53 PM
Thanks for the question! This filter uses Ozone Resistant barb fittings on it.

I’m looking to purchase simply the cannister that holds the filter. Do you have those available for separate purchase?

Hey there!

This is what you are looking for! https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/brs-reactor-refillable-cartridge-old-style.html

Take care

Below in answer to another question you state that this canister uses 1/2 in. ports. However, the description say 3/16 barbed fittings. I'm confused.
Question by: Doug Brewer on Dec 22, 2016, 6:28 AM
Great question! The "ports" are the female threads inside the cap of the canister. The elbow fitting that threads into those 1/2" ports is a 1/2" NPT male thread X 3/16 barb fitting. :-)

Which type of carbon can be used in this air filter to filter any harmful gases? Also, can I use co2 absorbing media with carbon at the same time, half and half, in same filter?
Question by: GK on Dec 21, 2016, 6:17 PM
Hey there,
Most activated carbon will be at least somewhat effective at removing airborne contaminants. We recommend using carbon with a small particle size/high surface area to get the best efficiency. We don't normally recommend mixing the CO2 media with carbon as they have different requirements and exhaustion rates and may affect each other.

Have a great day!

Hi, is this the same canister/cartridge as used in the RODI DI stage?

Thanks
Question by: Jason on Dec 4, 2016, 2:24 PM
Great question! This canister uses 1/2" ports, like those used with reactors. The internal cartridge is the same as a DI resin. :-)
Answer by: Randy on Dec 17, 2016, 7:44 AM
I read a post about this being used effectively with your color changing co2 absorbent media. I have an unused brs dual reactor. Can the dual reactor be used for this purpose?

Let me know
Question by: Julian Byrne on Jul 8, 2016, 1:12 PM
Hi there,
You can use any type of reactor for the CO2 absorbent media. You will most likely need to change out the fittings on the head of the reactor to match the size of airline tubing that your skimmer uses which those can usually be found at any local hardware store. The Dual Reactors have ½” NPT threads once the push connect adapters are removed.
Let us know if you have any other questions. : )
Answer by: Charlie on Jul 11, 2016, 11:30 AM
I need to find a different elbow with a 3/8" barb fitting to fit my skimmer airline tubing. What size is the female threaded input that the 90 degree airline elbows are connected to?
Question by: Leon Thai on May 16, 2016, 12:02 PM
Great question! The kynar elbows we use on the universal air filter are 1/4" thread by 3/6" elbow. If you are looking for an alternative barbed fitting, it will need to have a 1/4" npt thread to fit on the canister. If we can be of further assistance, please let us know. Have a great day and happy reefing!

I have a Biocube 29 with the coralife protein skimmer. I wish to install this between the air pump and the skimmer. Are the air hoses on your air filter the same size as the air hose that is used in the protein skimmer. If not do you sell an adapter?
Question by: Jon on Feb 24, 2016, 7:27 AM
Great question!
Unfortunately we cannot verify if your skimmer has the same airline size however our air filter will have standard 1/4" airline tubing. I have attached a link to several of our Kynar adapters which have varying sizes of barbed fittings.

Need to know if this item will hold 3 cups of activated carbon. Also double checking to make sure this can be used as a Carbon reactor. Also I plan on using a existing MJ1200 with this unit.
Question by: Scott on Apr 24, 2014, 12:11 PM
Hi Scott,
This is an air filter, it would not work as a carbon reactor as it has the incorrect size and type of fittings. For a carbon reactor you would want this model:

If i have my protein skimmer vented outside do i still need to use universal air filter. thank you
Question by: james on Nov 4, 2013, 1:19 AM
-2
Hi James,
Both of those would be optional but adding a universal air filter with co2 absorbing media would help to increase the pH. Because your already using a source of lower co2 air to begin with the effect won't be as noticeable but the media should last longer.
