Sumps give you maximum control over your reef tank filtration. They hide filtration and life support equipment like heaters, protein skimmers, and macro algae refugiums, but many sumps also have extra features like dosing line holders, built-in mechanical filtration, and baffles to keep everything nice and organized. Sumps also provide the added benefit of increased water volume, which can lead to a more stable system. For those reasons, we recommend going with the largest sump you can fit in the available space.
