Increase the effectiveness of your RO system, and Reduce waste water by up to 65%!

Reverse osmosis booster pumps can easily increase the pressure going into your RO or RO/DI system if your starting pressure is low. Reverse osmosis is a pressure-driven process. Small residential RO units will theoretically operate below 50psi, but the reality is you won't get a lot of water and the product water quality may be compromised if the unit runs below 45 psi. RO units typically run well on municipal water pressure of 60 psi, but they run even better with a small pump to boost the pressure to 80 psi or slightly higher. This will increase efficiency as well as the rate of production, and can also potentially decrease consumption of DI resin. Get maximum output and the best quality filtered water from your RO system!

Features

  • The high & low pressure safety cutoff switch
  • Improved rejection and production rates
  • Built-in internal automatic flush valve
  • Built-in check valve
  • Buddie Fit press-fittings
  • Sealed pressure pump

The Smart Buddie is designed to work with most RO and RO/DI units with a total output between 50 and 100 gallons per day. The Smart Buddie booster pump is quiet, easy to install, and can significantly increase water output. Not only does the Smart Buddie increase pressure, but it has an integrated auto-flush valve and safety pressure switches, simplifying and automating your RO/DI production process.

Product Questions

I have the Smart Buddie & BRS 4 stage (bought used), the water saver upgrade, and the value upgrade (so a total of 5 canisters and 2 membranes).

I hooked it all up prior to seeing this isn't supposed to be used with the water saver kit. It seems to function just as it's supposed to, produces water fast at 0 tds (I've made almost 210 gallons in a day), and have a ratio of about 1.75:1 for product:waste.

My question is, why is this not a recommended pump for the application with the water saver? What is the technical reasoning behind it?

Thank you!
Question by: Nicholas Thompson on Jan 6, 2024, 9:18 AM
We are not sure on the technical aspects, Aquatic Life has let us know that using the water saver package does void the warranty. If you are looking for technical reasons I would recommend reaching out to Aquatic Life directly here: customersupport@aquaticlife.com

Can I use this for 200 GPD 4 stage RO/ DI system?

My RO/ DI is 200 GPD and got a 100 GPD rated this unit (smart buddie rated for up to 100 gpd) ... wondering what can I do to use the smart buddie ..
Question by: Amit Singh on Dec 4, 2023, 10:11 PM
Hi there, thanks for reaching out. If you are looking to use the Smart Buddie with your RODI, you would need to remove one of the membranes.

Is there a wall mounting bracket option? I’d like to mount the device adjacent to the RO panel on the wall, could a RO bracket you sell already be used?
Question by: Andy Bushong on Nov 28, 2023, 8:03 AM
Unfortunately there is not a wall mounting bracket option. You would need to DIY one.

Can I use this to replace my water tank? I am wanting a tankless RO option for drinking water.
Question by: David on Jan 30, 2023, 11:54 AM
No, this would not replace a water tank. It is to boost your water pressure if it is too low. You need some type of holding tank or reservoir to hold the filtered water.

I have a drinking water 150 gal water saver also with a DI filter . How do I set up the final stage plumbing between these so it will function as intended?
Question by: john schoonover on Jan 22, 2023, 10:52 AM
Hey John, thanks for the question. This booster pump is only rated for 50-100 GPD single membrane systems. You will wan to get the 8800 from Aquatec

If using this for a drinking system, is the back pressure from a storage tank enough to stop the water production?
Question by: mark borgeson on Nov 22, 2022, 10:57 PM
Thanks for the question! The water storage tank back pressure should be enough to turn off the RODI and smart buddy automatically for almost all cases. Please let us know if we can help with anything else!

Is the waste discharge also pumped out? I’d like to use this to pump my waste water from my basement upstairs to my laundry room. Will this accomplish that? Thanks.
Question by: marcus adams on Oct 14, 2022, 10:14 AM
Thanks for the question, the waste is slightly pressurized with the booster pump but not directly. Assuming the distance is on the same floor and not going from the basement to the floor above you shouldn't have any issue. Going up vertically will not be recommended as booster pumps aren't designed to work against gravity.

Is there another pump you can use when you DO HAVE the water saver kit?
Question by: Anthony DeHart on Mar 18, 2022, 4:23 PM
Hey Anthony, thanks for the question! You will want to utilize the 8800 booster pump kit from aquatec. I have linked it below!

Can this be used with a RO/DI system that has the water saver upgrade?
Question by: Taylor Merritt on Jan 12, 2022, 10:02 AM
This system is Not for use with Water Saver Systems
Answer by: Matt Lucero (BRS Staff) on Jan 13, 2022, 11:31 AM
I have a 3 stage RO/DI filter from you guys. I get about 43lbs. pressure from the house at the unit. There is about 12 gallons of waste for a 5 gallon clean bucket.

Is it worth me installing one of these? My friend gave me one to use, I just don't know if it will save me that much.

Thank you,
Brian
Question by: Brian Williams on Apr 15, 2020, 9:41 PM
Hi there,

It will 100% be worth it to use, the pressure should be 55-60 for optimal performance. You will get a much better rejection to product ratio of you improve that pressure.

Take care
