  • Plug & Play installation with multiple sump setup options
  • Easy fleece-mat replacement system
  • Efficient, high-flow, skimmer friendly, 50 g/m2, non-woven polyester fleece-mat rolls
  • Smart drive unit – connected to the ReefBeat ecosystem
  • Solid-State internal and external water level sensors (no moving parts)
  • Integrated media basket for additional chemical filtration
  • Kink-resistant, corrugated inlet hose with a USA/Metric PVC connector

The ReefMat comes fully assembled, straight out of the box. Designed to hang on a sump wall to conserve space, but also including mounting legs, you can place the ReefMat anywhere you want in your sump that has the space avaialble. Both the drive unit and inlet hose can be positioned on either side of the ReefMat making installation work for any sump set up.

The ReefMat 500 comes with one 28m fleece roll (Replacement rolls can be found HERE). Each roll should last roughly 5-8 weeks on a moderately stocked 80 gallon reef system; however, bare-bottom tanks will typically exhaust rolls at a faster rate. Additionally, usage rate may be significantly higher for the first few weeks after installing a ReefMat while your system adjusts to the new level of mechanical filtration.

ReefBeat App

  • One interface for all of Red Sea’s smart devices.
  • Easy set-up and operation.
  • On-line monitoring and notifications.

ReefBeat gives you timely notifications when the fleece not only needs maintenance, but also if it should get stuck or torn. If any error occurs, the motor will simply not attempt to feed any more fleece until the issue is resolved. The end of Roll Monitor function lets you know the daily average use, and how many days you have left before the filter roll runs out so you can plan ahead.

Product Questions

Is the ReefMat 500 compatible with the Nyos 440 sump? Does it fit where the filter socks are currently sitting?
Question by: Jay on Aug 1, 2024, 9:54 AM
While the ReefMat 500 IS compatible with the Nyos 440 sump, it does not fit where the filter socks currently are. The ReefMat would have to be put into the skimmer chamber (13" x 20" on the Nyos OPUS 440) instead to accommodate the 8.3" x 10.6" ReefMat 500's footprint.

Can this be used in a freshwater aquarium?
Question by: Jedifish on Jul 16, 2023, 11:38 PM
Hey there,

Thanks for the question. These use a conductivity sensor in order to sense the water level rising and to signal the motor to turn to expose new fleece so this will not work in a freshwater environment correctly. Thanks!

Hi, will this fit in the filter sock section on the trigger system crystal 36 sump
Question by: Kenneth Insley on Nov 9, 2022, 8:13 PM
With some sump modification, the Red Sea ReefMat 500 should fit in the Trigger Systems Crystal 36. The drain section on the sump is 12" X 13.5" and the ReefMat footprint is 8.3" x 10.6".

Will this fit Trigger Systems Triton 34 V2 Sump in the Refugium Section?
Question by: Chavinpat Pongsakornpatara on Jul 1, 2022, 11:35 AM
Thanks for the question! This should fit in the refugium section, however, keep in mind you will likely need to modify plumbing to ensure the water drains into the roller and not just the refugium chamber is it is normally done with filter socks in place. Please let us know if we can help with anything else!
