Tuning Your New LED Light

Most LED lights will actually put out more light than your corals will actually need and without a PAR Meter to test the overall output, it is really hard to guess if the light is too dim or intense. We highly suggest using a PAR Meter to test the output of your lights at different points throughout your tank that you can use to tune the lights output or know where to put specific corals.

Product Questions

I have the A1Prime HD currently in use as a refugium Light. Someday moving to a frag tank. As a fuge Light with all the tests you guys have done on fuge performance, what settings on the Prime would you recommend? Red and violet?
Thanks in advance

Hi Jack, great question!

Depending on your light intensity requirements you can run all of the channels and simply tune it to your personal color preference. If you need less light, are looking to save some energy, and/or don't mind what it looks like you can start by turning the green channel down, followed by the white. The red, blue and violet channels should hit those photosynthetic peaks for your algae.

does this have a fan? does it need a fan?
Question by: nina on Sep 11, 2017, 4:58 PM
All of the AI Prime LED lights include a cooling fan that is actively controlled by the light.

I'm curious if this light would work for my IM Lagoon 25. I only plan on having an aquascape that is 18"×18" maximum, most likely a bit smaller. Just concerned that the spread won't be sufficient at a lower mounting height. Could you help me out?
Question by: RYAN CROW on May 23, 2017, 9:56 AM
Due to the shallow depth of the lagoon tanks, you may be able to get by with a Prime, but this would really only be recommended for corals with low to moderate light needs. The Prime is a fairly limited light in terms of output (though not features) and is more ideal for small tanks within about 12-15" across and wouldn't really be recommended for sps setups larger than this.

Hope this helps!
