This meter reads the conductivity of the water in microseimens, from 0-200mS, which can then be converted with the included chart.

Does it need to be calibrated before use? And if yes does it come with the calibration solution?

Great Question, The salinity module comes with a bottle of solution for calibrating the probe. This will need to be performed before the initial use.
