The MQ-510 Par Sensor has been specifically designed to give reliable and repeatable readings underwater with LED lighting. With an increased spectral range, and larger sensing optic you will get more precise readings with all types of lighting systems. Apogee now has the immersion correction factor installed in the meter and will automatically compensate for any effects underwater readings may have.

 

Apogee has calibrated the MQ-510 sensor with electronic lights that is stored in the firmware of the meter. Calibration with electronic lighting makes it the perfect PAR meter for any type of aquarium lighting. The sensor has a housing designed to be fully weather-proof and self-cleaning allowing years of service with minimal maintenance.

 

No more days of looking and guessing how much light is being put into your tank. Apogee is the leader in radiation sensing devices and recently introduced the MQ-510 USB Powered Quantum PAR Sensor that now corrects for underwater variables. PAR (photosynthetic active radiation) is the easiest way to measure the available light for corals to consume and use for photosynthesis. With LED lights giving more and more control to the consumer the best thing is a PAR meter that is affordable and simple to use. With PAR readings you can monitor light degradation, clarity of the water, and intensity of the lighting schedule. Most LED lights out on the market today have more power than what your corals can take and will quickly bleach out from too much light. By having a PAR meter to monitor the light intensity you will have tangible numbers to go off of, instead of just guessing.

 

We personally like inputting all of our reading into a spreadsheet to make a chart of light output and overlay the readings on a photo as well. Having a picture with your tanks PAR levels is very handy to have when placing new corals in your tank.

In the description it says it will read all lights. I have leds and 4 t-5s. Would this read everything?

How is the device powered? Does it need to be plugged into a computer?

The meter is powered by a coin cell battery (CR2320). You would need an accessory cable to plug the unit into a computer. The AC-100 cable is required to download data recorded in Apogee handheld meters to a computer. The cable houses electronics to convert the signal from the meter into a USB signal that a computer recognizes. You would then need the ApogeeAMS software on a computer to interface with the meter.

Is there a warranty on the open box part meters? If so, is it the same warranty as the non-open box meters?

The open box would have a 30-day warranty. Those are mostly meant for the rental program, but you can chose to keep it.

How are we to convert the measurement of this meter into PAR? Or is there no conversion required?

There is no conversion needed, it will display the PAR reading on the screen in real time.
