Joe from Unique Corals using MarcoRocks Foundation and Shelf Dry Live Rock to create an awesome aquascape!

MarcoRocks Foundation Reef Saver Rock is the perfect base to any desirable aquascape. Each piece of foundation rock is cut flat on one side for stable placement and an architecturally sound aquascape. The natural rock top-side lets you place traditional rocks on top of the foundation pieces without creating excess pressure points or strain on the base of the tank. If you are going to with a bare bottom tank the look the foundation rock gives is awesome and even if you are going to be using a sand bed, placing a few pieces of Foundation Rock approximately 6" - 8" apart will allow for proper flow throughout the base of the structure and allow detritus to be swept away.

SOLD BY THE PIECE | 8" to 11" LONG

On average Medium Foundation Reef Saver Rock pieces range from 4 to 5 pounds and will vary from piece to piece.

Small Foundation Reef Saver Rock - Perfect for aquariums 50 gallons or less, the Small Foundation Dry Live Rock pieces can range from 4" up to 8" at the longest distance.

Medium Foundation Reef Saver Rock - The most common size, Medium Foundation Reef Saver Rock ranges from 8" up to 11" at its longest point and is great for tanks from 40 to 120 gallons.

Large Foundation Reef Saver Rock - Pieces range from 9" or greater and we suggest using Large Foundation Live Rock in tanks that are 90 gallons or larger.

How Much Rock Do I Need?

Foundation rock will be slightly different rule than the traditional 1 pound per gallon logic, and we suggest one piece per foot of display tank, but depending on your display tanks dimensions you may want an extra rock or two to ensure you have enough to complete your aquarium aquascape. Ultimately, the best results will be given if you can support each rock structure entirely with the foundation rock while providing space for flow between the rocks. We have found that selecting a few different sizes allows for multiple options when it comes to having more creative freedom when aquascaping.

We highly recommend curing all dry live rock before being introduced into an established aquarium.

What's Included?

1x Medium Foundation Reef Saver Dry Live Rock

Shipping: BRS makes every effort to securely pack the Rock. However, the UPS automation is not always gentle on heavy products like this and they do not consider this product insurable. Because of this, there is some inherent risk with shipping rock like this across the country and it is impossible to replace or refund broken pieces. If this happens most pieces can be repaired with epoxy.

Product Questions

How much do small and medium foundation rocks weigh on average? I am trying to approximate the weight into my 1 lbs per gallon calculation. Thanks you.
Question by: Peter Bras on Apr 1, 2020, 1:24 PM
Hi there,

The small is 2-3lbs and the medium is 4-5lbs.

Take care

Does one order come with a box of rocks, or is it just "1" rock?
Question by: Josh Broadbent on Jan 5, 2019, 3:32 PM
Thank you for reaching out to us! Great question. We would aim to have your complete order all in one box given it was not an abnormally large order. I hope this is helpful!
