Add the Lunar Simulator Module and LED strings to your Apex Controller from Neptune Systems to create a true lunar cycle to your reef aquarium.

Lunar lighting can replicate your animals natural environment. By simulating lunar cycles in your aquarium you can help encourage the breeding of fish and spawning of corals. The Lunar Simulator LED lights can be connected directly to the Neptune Systems LSM module with any Apex Controller system.

  • Module and LED Strings sold separately
  • LED Strings available in 2, 3, 4 or 5 LEDs per string
  • High-intensity LEDs with wide angle lenses (100+ degrees) to provide the best possible coverage
  • 24" span between LEDs allows for multiple configurations

Coverage per LED - 12"

We suggest mounting the LEDs as high as you can to help increase the overall spread.

Product Questions

will this plug and play with the apex a3 pro? or will I still need the have the LSM module
Question by: vinny on Nov 22, 2022, 4:15 PM
Hey Vinny,

The LSM module is required for the LED strings, but will be automatically recognized when installed into the system.
Answer by: Mark Schlough (BRS Staff) on Nov 26, 2022, 11:40 AM
Thanks for the question! You will need the LSM for this!
Answer by: James Johnson (BRS Staff) on Nov 26, 2022, 11:48 AM
how high above the tank can they be placed? My tank is 30" deep and my Reef Breeders light is 14" above the water, and I would mount these about 14 to 16" above the water potentially.
Question by: adam on Nov 18, 2022, 8:21 AM
While they can be placed at any height above the tank, we recommend placing them as high as possible to get the maximum coverage and least amount of spotlighting.

On a 2 string led, How long is the wire to the first led? How long is the wire from the first led to the second led? Thank you in advance just wanna make sure it will reach from my controller location to the canopy.
Question by: Thomas on Mar 23, 2017, 12:50 AM
Hey there,
The distance of the lead wire is about 70", and the distance between each LED is approximately 24".

Have a great day!
Answer by: Zack on Mar 29, 2017, 12:17 PM
Can the brightness be set on these like a radion etc or is it just on and off or follow given program.
Question by: BJ on Aug 16, 2016, 1:31 PM
Great question! You can adjust the intensity of these from 0%-100%. :-)
Answer by: Randy on Aug 16, 2016, 6:15 PM
With these lunar lights, will I need a certain module to connect this to the apex or will there be a connection on the actual apex box? Currently have an apex but won't be set up for a couple weeks so I am not too familiar with the apex connections. Thanks guys!
Question by: Mike on Aug 9, 2016, 9:45 AM
Great question! You will need the Lunar Simulator LED Module for these LED lights on the Apex. Here is the link for that module. :-) https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/lunar-simulator-module-lsm-neptune-systems.html
Answer by: Randy on Aug 11, 2016, 10:06 PM
Are these lights compatible with other controllers like the Vertex Cerebra or Reefkeeper?
Question by: Billy Danz on Jul 3, 2016, 7:07 PM
These are not designed to be controller with other units. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.

I have a 225 gal tank, how many of these LED's will I need? Tank is 71"x24"x25"
Question by: Ben on May 17, 2016, 3:16 PM
Great question!
These would work okay with one over a 12-24" Area. For yours you may want up to 5 led's.
Answer by: Connor on May 18, 2016, 6:19 PM
How many leds is recommended for a 4 foot tank? I know youve said theyre 24 inches apart, but do people usually place them closer together?
Question by: Joe on May 12, 2016, 4:53 PM
Great question!
It is up to how much light, we would ideally recommend three to 4 total, not more than 4 LED's. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor on May 17, 2016, 5:21 PM
It says "to create a true lunar cycle to your reef aquarium." does that mean it will match what is going on outside with the moon? What I mean is can I set it to be a full moon when it is actually a full moon but without having to go in and adjust it. I am looking for something that can be programed to match for a year and then I dont have to touch it. Does this have that capability?
Question by: Alex De Michieli on Apr 29, 2016, 4:10 PM
Great question!
It can be programmed to run the lunar cycle with the different phases of the moon. This can be programmed to run in accordance what the actual moon outside is currently at. This will not need to be touched after the initial programming is set.

I have a Kessil A360 on a gooseneck. What options are there for mounting these LEDs on a rimless tank without a hood?
Question by: Chilly on Apr 20, 2016, 10:46 AM
Great question!
These will need to mount to a surface with screws and would require some type of hood or canopy to mount to.
Answer by: Connor on Apr 26, 2016, 1:36 PM
Can you split one module between two strings? I have two tanks and they run on the same Apex system. Also need to extend the leader longer than 70". Is there an extension for these?
Question by: Jeff on Apr 13, 2016, 11:25 PM
Great question!
Each module will only have the option for one input for a single string. We do not carry a direct extension for the Lunar cable however since you will need 2 modules you can use a longer aquabus cable to handle the length. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor on Apr 19, 2016, 10:27 AM
What is the length of the cord between the two lights and also the three lights.
Question by: Mike on Apr 4, 2016, 8:16 AM
Great question!
The lights are spread 24" apart for each model. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
Answer by: Connor on Apr 7, 2016, 6:44 PM
What are the lengths of each of the available light strings; 2, 3, 4 & 5 bulb strings? And how long is the leader wire that goes to the LSM module? I would be mounting the LSM in the aquarium stand and meed at least a 5 foot leader wire (36" from stand to tank top and another 24" from the canopy back to bulb mounting location.
Question by: Raymond Sugel Sr on Apr 3, 2016, 2:19 PM
Great question!
1. The distance between the lunar lights is approximately 24" apart
2. The length of the leader wire is 70"
3. Yes you can setup ramp profiles to have the intensity ramp up & down and you can use if time to turn on/off the different profiles. You can also use the Wizard in fusion to ramp up and down the lights.
Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

can more then one string of LED's be connected to one module?
Question by: Chris on Jan 2, 2014, 6:19 AM
Hi Chris,
It can be used with a single string of LED's. If you want more LED"s you just use an LED string that has more LED's on it.
