Korallen-Zucht ZEOstart is the bacterial nutrition component of the ZEOvit system. Its highly concentrated formula promotes the growth and reproduction of beneficial bacteria, helping establish the biological activity used to reduce nitrate and phosphate in the aquarium.
When used alongside ZEOvit Media, ZEObak, and ZEOfood Plus, ZEOstart helps maintain a stable bacterial population and the low-nutrient conditions the ZEOvit method is designed to achieve.
How the ZEOvit System Works
The ZEOvit system uses beneficial bacteria to help keep nitrate and phosphate at very low levels. Think of it as creating a controlled environment where those bacteria can grow, process nutrients, and help keep the aquarium water clean.
ZEOvit Media provides the surface and filtration environment for the system. ZEObak adds the beneficial bacteria, while ZEOstart helps those bacteria grow and reproduce. ZEOfood Plus provides additional nutrition to support the system and the corals.
As the bacteria grow, they consume nutrients in the aquarium. Agitating the ZEOvit Media helps release accumulated material and bacterial biomass into the water, where it can be removed by the protein skimmer or consumed by corals and other filter-feeding organisms.
The goal is to maintain a stable, low-nutrient environment that supports strong coral coloration and growth without stripping the aquarium of nutrients too quickly.

ZEOstart provides nutrition for the beneficial bacteria that drive the biological nutrient-processing portion of the ZEOvit method. Regular dosing promotes bacterial reproduction and helps maintain a stable bacterial population for consistent nutrient reduction.

Recommended Use
Dosage: 2 mL per 1000 L (approx. 264 gallons) of aquarium water daily
Application: Dose directly into the aquarium in an area of strong water flow. Aquarium equipment can remain running during dosing.
With ZEOfood Plus: Pause ZEOstart during the week of the higher monthly ZEOfood Plus dosage.
Important: Do not exceed 2 mL per 1000 L (approx. 264 gallons) daily.

Product Questions
This product in particular is a food source for specific bacterial which act as a part of the microbial chain in the Zeovit system to consume nitrate and phopshate. Without the use of the other Zeovit system products and reactor media, the effects of this product may be limited. KZ has a number of bacterial/microbial supplements which help to create the complex nutrient reduction chain in conjunction with their zeolite reactor and this food source, and removing critical components from that system may prevent them from having the desired affect.

You will ideally want to dose the correct amount (.2ml) directly into the zeovit reactor for best performance. It is a fairly simple process. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!
