Today we're answering Felner Quezada's question “How often do you need to calibrate your pH probe?" The recommendation for calibrating your probe may change depending on how important pH monitoring and control is on your system and the types of probe you use. If you dont control anything from your pH probe, and never look at it their is should be no reason to ever calibrate it since it is essentially unused. Calibrating your probe takes about 5 minutes and costs around 2 dollars so we suggest calibrating them about every 3 months as a blanket statement. If you are controlling critical components of life support then you may want to calibrate the pH probe monthly. A couple critical spots may be your calcium reactor, nitrate reactor, ATO system that use kalkwasser, or general 2 part dosing.
