Red Sea Coral Pro Salt: Pro Levels of Ca/Alk/Mag for Pro Reefers Looking for Faster Coral Growth

Red Sea Coral Pro is one of two different artifical seawater salt mixes from Red Sea. Coral Pro is their premiere formulation designed for use in reef tanks with elevated levels of calcium, alkalinity and magnesium. It is unique in that it is one of the only salt mixes designed specifically for use in your tank within just a few hours of mixing. This makes it a great choice if your not big on planning or simply like to perform your water changes as quickly as possible. Let's face it, storing large volumes of saltwater is not always feasable and having a salt mix that is safe for use within 1-2 hours is quite appealing if your in this camp.

Red Sea sources the materials for Coral Pro naturally from their namesake, the Red Sea. Each and every batch of salt is tested for consistency and is backed by their "My Batch" gaurantee in which you can access the exact chemical analysis from the specific batch your bag/bucket of salt mix is from using the assigned batch number. This is one of the most important aspects of a high-quality salt mix, consistency between batches ensures your getting the same parameters each and every time. Stability is what counts in a reef tank and it all starts with your salt mix.

During our salt mixing tests, we found the cost of Red Sea Coral Pro to fall in line with the majority at $0.49 per gallon of mixed saltwater at 35 ppt salinity. It also performed great in the stratification tests meaning you can expect the same parameters throughout your entire bucket of salt.

That said, it is important to note that Red Sea Coral Pro should not be stored for an extended period of time. Per the instructions, mix for up to 2 hours and use it within a maximum of 4 hours. Temperature should be maintained at room temperature (+/-68°F) during mixing and should only be heated after it has been fully mixed to avoid precipitation. A little cloudiness is normal in the freshly mixed saltwater and it will clear up shortly after performing your water change.
