Mesh Media Bags are used to hold media like carbon, GFO or any other loose media. The mesh bags allow for flow through the media while keeping the loose media contained. By strategically placing the media bags in your sump, you can control the amount of water that could flow through the media and contact time.

Mesh Media Bags can also be used as effective filter socks

200 Micron Mesh Media Bag

Mesh Media Bags can be used for a variety of applications, from holding loose filter media to trapping detritus and free floating particles. In most applications, a reactor will be best for medias like carbon and GFO but some systems will not have room for a reactor, and that is where media bags are very handy. They can conform to AIO aquarium chambers or sump baffles directing flow through the media bag or placed in an open place of the sump for passive flow.

  • Easily cleanable & reusable
  • Great for medias of all sizes
  • Draw string keeps media inside
  • Conforms to baffles and chambers

Hi - is the mesh fine enough for Purigen?
Question by: Michael Arko on Aug 16, 2022, 11:19 AM
Hello Michael,
Yes, this does work for purigen. Something I found when using it for this is that the draw string does not pull absolutely shut (as you could imagine) and if it is allowed to tumble or slouch in the sump it can sneak out the top. I typically will also tie the drawstring to something in the sump to ensure it remains upright. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with!

What is the best way to clean these?
Question by: Thomas on Mar 7, 2018, 7:50 AM
Hi there,
Thank you for reaching out.
I usually wash them off in warm tap water and then hang dry them. If they are particularly dirty, I will wash them in the washer with out any detergent.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Have a great day!

Is the 7" x 16" mesh filter bag 7" across laid flat and therefore 14" in circumference ? I want to use it on our ski grinding machine to catch the plastic and metal debris, and the outlet tube is 13.5" in circumference.
Question by: Bill on Jan 12, 2017, 1:29 PM
Great question! The opening diameter is 7" and the length is 14". Unfortunately we do not carry a wider diameter as they are not in much demand in our hobby. :-)

Hello I wanted to know if the mesh filter sick with draw string would work with gfo in it. I currently don't have a reactor so I wanted to use this if possible? Thank you
Question by: George on Feb 26, 2016, 5:42 AM

You certainly can run the mesh draw string bag with GFO! This will work perfect! Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions.
