6 inch Tall Rimless Shallow Reef Frag Tanks with Internal Overflow

They have developed a variety of shallow frag tanks, all built around the short and wide proportions ideal for top-down display and grow-out of small corals. The extra surface area is ideal for providing ample space for frags, giving them plenty of surface area for exposure to flow, gas exchange and light, while avoiding shading from rockwork and other corals, and the shorter height cuts down on the power requirements from lighting and ensures all of the corals get similar light intensity. The internal overflow box provides for greater flexibility in filtration and other equipment choices by allowing for plumbing to a sump directly below the aquarium This is especially helpful if you want to be able to set the tank up as close to the wall as possible as you don't need to allow for clearance of the overflow box behind the aquarium. Pick your lighting, plumbing, filtration, and heat, and you're ready to grow some coral!

It is very common to acquire new corals as smaller colonies or fragments, and in mature reefs a natural progression of the reefing hobby is coral pruning and/or propagation. Aquariums built for the purpose of displaying and growing these smaller corals have a very different set of requirements from a standard display.
