Each rock is man-made right in the USA using top quality ingredients. Using the same building blocks that your coral use, Real Reef is made with a variety of minerals, aggregates, and sands, each rock contains not only calcium carbonate but essential trace elements. After each rock is made, they are covered in beautiful shades of purple, pink, and red before they are allowed to cure in freshwater for a minimum of 12 weeks, before being transferred into the saltwater bins for another 12-16 weeks before being packaged. Real Reef Solutions saltwater grow-out tanks prepare the rock and make them become biologically active with bacteria and even some algae.

Perfect for tanks 40 gallons or larger - For most aquascapes, we suggest using around 1.25 to 1.5 pounds per gallon of display tank for an average aquascape. We do recommend getting a little more than you may need, giving yourself some options on which rocks you want to use, and any additional rocks can always be put into your sump for added filtration. 

Sizing - On average each box will have a variety of pieces ranging from 10" up to 18". Since the rock is man-made and every piece is unique, the size and weight can vary from piece to piece, but we have found most 55 pound boxes have between 6-8  pieces of Real Reef Rock. We like mixing the Real Reef Rock with Real Reef Shelf Rock for a natural looking aquascape. Each box is pre-packed and we are unable to take requests for certain shapes or sizes at this time.

We highly suggest curing all rock before being used in an established system. 

Real Reef Rock will be slightly damp when you receive it, and may even have small amounts of algae or other organic material, which can cause a cycle when added to a tank. In most instances, the amount of ammonia will be very small since Real Reef Solutions keeps their grow out tanks super clean, and focus on bacterial growth on the rock.

Shipping: BRS makes every effort to securely pack the Rock. However, the UPS automation is not always gentle on heavy products like this and they do not consider this product insurable. Because of this, there is some inherent risk with shipping rock like this across the country and it is impossible to replace or refund broken pieces. If this happens most pieces can be repaired with epoxy.

Note: Real Reef Rock is not available for shipment to Canada due to high tariffs. Please consider Reef Saver Rock as this is not subject to these fees and our favorite of the dry rocks available.
